In 2nd grade, children must understand how to represent
and compare whole numbers, the relative position and magnitude of whole
numbers, and relationships within the numeration system related to place value.
Second grade students must know that a
three-digit number tells you how many hundreds, tens and ones there are. Comparing numbers is also an
important skill, and the concepts of "greater than," "less
than," or “equal to” are introduced.
Once these skills are learned, 2nd graders will be ready to add and
subtract larger numbers.
Here are some fun apps, online games, and other resources you
can use to practice and review these important place value skills learned in
2nd grade.
